Delhi-Karnal Corridor: Namo Bharat Project Kicks Off

India is taking significant steps to enhance its regional rapid transit network with the launch of the Delhi–Karnal Namo Bharat corridor, aimed at streamlining connectivity within the National Capital Region. This initiative is set to markedly improve travel efficiency between Delhi and Haryana.

In the wake of successful operations on the Delhi–Meerut route, planning for this new corridor is well underway, with preliminary work starting prior to the completion of official approvals from the central cabinet. This indicates the project's high priority and importance.

The ambitious corridor will stretch approximately 136 kilometers, predominantly featuring an elevated track design. This approach is anticipated to expedite construction and lessen disruptions within densely inhabited areas.

Authorities have commenced the relocation of key utilities, including electricity and water lines along the designated route. This proactive groundwork is vital to ensure that project execution can proceed smoothly once full clearance is granted.

Incorporating two key metro interchanges, the corridor is set to seamlessly connect with existing urban transport networks, which will enhance last-mile connectivity and shorten travel times for everyday commuters.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation, tasked with implementing regional rapid transit systems in the NCR, is spearheading this development. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to fortify infrastructure and bolster economic growth within the region.
