David Beckham was formally invested as a knight by King Charles III at a ceremony in Berkshire on Tuesday, recognised for both his outstanding football career and long-standing charitable efforts.

At the event Beckham arrived in a tailored three-piece suit created by his wife, Victoria Beckham, and was joined by his parents, Ted and Sandra. The occasion marked a special milestone in a life that has been watched around the world.

While Beckham is now a co-owner of MLS side Inter Miami, he is still widely celebrated for his early years at Manchester United, where he made his senior debut in 1992 at 17. During his time at Old Trafford he collected six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two FA Charity Shields and played a key role in United’s famous 1999 Champions League win as part of the treble.

Beckham later spent four seasons in Spain with Real Madrid, finishing his spell there with a La Liga title in his final campaign. His technical skill, relentless work ethic and global profile have made him one of football’s most recognisable figures.

Speaking after the ceremony, Beckham said he felt both proud and thankful. He insisted the honour was especially meaningful because it recognised the philanthropic work he has pursued alongside his playing career, particularly projects that support children.

He also reflected on the perspective the honour gives his trophy haul, saying the knighthood would hold a cherished place beyond the medals and titles won on the pitch.

On the international front, Beckham made his England debut on 1 September 1996 at 21, went on to captain the side for six years and finished with 58 caps, leaving a lasting mark on the national team.

The knighthood reinforces Beckham’s dual legacy as a storied professional footballer and as a committed philanthropist, underlining his influence both in sport and in charitable causes.
