Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has finalized a lease agreement for two Boeing 737-8 aircraft with Somon Air, Tajikistan's national airline. Scheduled for delivery in 2026, this collaboration signifies a significant step for both entities.
This agreement comes at a time when airlines in emerging markets are actively seeking fuel-efficient narrow-body aircraft to expand their reach and streamline operational expenses. The Boeing 737-8 is recognized for its impressive fuel efficiency and extended range, making it a prime option for modernizing fleets.
Firoz Tarapore, CEO of DAE, expressed enthusiasm over welcoming Somon Air as a partner, emphasizing DAE's commitment to supporting the airline's growth through this new alliance.
Somon Air's CEO, Abdulkosim Valiev, highlighted that these new aircraft will promote the airline's route expansion, enhance efficiency, and reinforce its commercial strategies. The airline has shown consistent growth in its regional and international services with an emphasis on incorporating modern, efficient aircraft.
As one of the leading aircraft leasing firms globally, DAE currently manages around 750 aircraft, which include 237 Boeing planes. The company is set to further grow its fleet, aligning with a global trend toward leasing modern aircraft rather than purchasing them outright.
