DXB News Network (DNN) has announced the launch of its first in-house satirical micro-series, Ctrl+Alt+Wim, marking a bold new step in short-form digital storytelling. The series premieres today at 5:00 PM (Dubai Time) on the official DXB News Network YouTube channel.
Conceived as a high-concept satire experiment, Ctrl+Alt+Wim deliberately rejects traditional narrative rules. The series avoids explanation, predictability, and conventional structure, instead embracing abstraction, absurdity, and layered visual storytelling. Each episode invites viewers to pause, interpret, and often rewatch—positioning the series as an antidote to fast, disposable digital content.
The series stars Wim Hoste, a Belgian-born international singer, performer, and television host with over 25 years of experience across Europe and the Middle East. Known as “The Dubai Bond,” Hoste is celebrated for his cinematic stage presence, multilingual performances, and refined crooner style, with appearances at Expo 2020 and collaborations with global brands such as Hilton, Visa, and DP World. He has also been a regular performer at premium venues including Palazzo Versace, Belcanto at Dubai Opera, and Sucre DIFC.
In Ctrl+Alt+Wim, Hoste steps away from music and traditional hosting to adopt a restrained, deadpan screen persona. His calm, expressionless delivery anchors the series’ deliberately surreal tone.
“You’ve seen Wim sing. You’ve seen him host. But you’ve never seen him completely ignore chaos with such precision,” said series creator Dr. Amrinder Singh.
Each episode runs approximately 45 seconds and is produced entirely within a single green-screen studio using layered visual effects and stylised post-production. Hoste performs all on-screen roles himself, seamlessly shifting between multiple personas without acknowledgement. There are no guest appearances, no laugh track, and no narrative guidance.
The series relies on contrast—between structure and nonsense, calm delivery and illogical subject matter.
“This is not satire that explains itself,” said Dr. Singh. “It’s nonsense with intent—performance art disguised as a broadcast.”
At a time when digital platforms prioritise speed and noise, Ctrl+Alt+Wim adopts a deliberately restrained approach. Blending performance theatre, visual satire, and post-internet storytelling, the series is designed not for passive scrolling, but for curiosity-driven engagement.
