A shocking moment unfolded for a woman in Brisbane, Australia, when she awoke to find a hefty carpet python resting atop her while she slept.
Rachel Bloor initially thought the weight on her chest and stomach came from her labradoodle. Upon feeling the movement, she quickly realized it was something far more alarming. In an interview with ABC News, she recounted that as soon as she understood it was a snake, she woke her husband and urged him to turn on the lights.
Once the lights were illuminated, her husband noticed the sizable carpet python, measuring approximately two and a half metres, coiled up on the bed. He advised her to stay still. Concerned for their pet dogs, he first moved them out of the room to ensure their safety, leaving Ms. Bloor alone with the serpent.
From another room, her husband instructed her to carefully crawl out from beneath the covers. Ms. Bloor managed to slide off the bed without incident. She then helped to guide the python out through a window, ensuring the creature was unharmed.
Ms. Bloor speculated that the snake had climbed to the second level of their home, pushed open a plantation shutter, and made its way onto her bed.
Having grown up in an area surrounded by nature, she expressed that she isn't particularly scared of snakes, adding that she felt lucky it wasn't a toad, which she humorously mentioned frightens her more than snakes do.
