Blake Lively made a remarkable return to the Met Gala 2026 on Monday, gracing the event for the first time since 2022. This marks her 11th appearance at the illustrious gathering.

For this year's return, Lively donned a stunning archival Atelier Versace gown from the Spring 2006 runway. This choice beautifully aligned with this year's theme, “Fashion Is Art,” embodying a rich artistic spirit.

Her pastel gown showcased intricate embroidery in hues of pink, yellow, coral, peach, and lilac. It also featured architectural details reminiscent of 18th-century Venetian Rococo artistry. The structured bodice flowed into a liquid-like skirt, while the hip area displayed sculptural elements echoing Baroque architecture. The lengthy four-meter train featured a picturesque sky-inspired design, symbolizing both sunrise and sunset.

Lively expressed that this archival gown held significance as it embodies art, history, and evolution. She described how each year at the Met Gala represents a new chapter in her life, reflecting her growth, motherhood, and experiences. The importance of balancing motherhood with public appearances is something she treasures deeply.

Donatella Versace commended Lively's elegant appearance, noting her iconic fashion moments at the Met Gala and her enduring representation of the brand.

A standout detail of her ensemble was a custom Judith Leiber Couture clutch, uniquely designed with artwork from her four children. The minaudière was crafted to showcase one drawing on each of its four sides, allowing Lively to bring her children symbolically to the event.

Having frequently collaborated with Versace for previous Met Galas, Lively has delivered memorable looks, including her transformative Statue of Liberty gown in 2022 and her “Heavenly Bodies” ensemble in 2018.

This archival creation resonates with Lively not only for its artistic significance but also for celebrating both the heritage of the Versace brand and the artistry of Donatella Versace, further enhancing the meaning of her return this year.
