Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar, celebrated for promoting real bodies on screen, recently opened up about her journey with body image, fitness, and handling online criticism. She emphasized that self-love and mental well-being are as important as physical fitness.

Debut and Bold Beginnings

Bhumi made her Hindi film debut with the hit movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha, weighing around 100 kilograms. Her confident performance challenged traditional beauty standards and earned widespread praise. Since then, she has undergone a remarkable physical transformation while remaining vocal about body image and self-acceptance.

Fitness Beyond Appearances

Reflecting on her fitness journey, Bhumi said, “I feel that doesn't ever go right. That’s because we have grown up in an environment where we were subjected to different kinds of comments. But you have to learn to love yourself, and that's a process.” She admitted there are still days when she feels insecure or heartbroken.

She added, “It has taken me a lot of time, and I still have days where I feel heartbroken about things. But the point is that I have a routine that keeps me in check. For me, physical health is also about mental health. It’s just not about how you look externally.” Activities like running and walking help her stay grounded and maintain mental clarity.

Redefining Fitness

On her definition of fitness, Bhumi said, “Fitness is just loving yourself. There's nothing more to it. If you love yourself, you will be fit.” Her remarks reflect a shift in Bollywood toward valuing mental health and self-love alongside physical transformation.

Handling Public Scrutiny

Despite her confident outlook, Bhumi admitted that public scrutiny and online trolling are still part of her life. “Well, the thing is that I have seen both ends of the spectrum. There was a time when I was 96 kg, and there were opinions then. Now, I look different, and there are opinions now,” she said.

However, she clarified, “The point is that I'm in the public eye and it's okay. I am for the audience. Everything that they say I listen to, but by the end of it, I do what's right for me.”

Bhumi hinted at a busy year ahead with multiple projects. “There are a lot of things, but they haven't been announced yet, but next year you will see me onscreen 3 or 4 times,” she revealed.

Last seen in the Netflix series The Royals alongside Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar continues to exemplify resilience, self-love, and dedication. Her journey from challenging stereotypes to embracing self-love amid public scrutiny shows that confidence, mental clarity, and self-care are the true markers of health and happiness.
