In a significant step towards improving healthcare for senior residents, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) has launched the Barakatna Clinic following the recent introduction of the Barakatna initiative by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This clinic aims specifically at residents aged 65 and older, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s mission to uplift the quality of life for its elderly population.

The Barakatna initiative, which is managed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi and enjoys support from the Family Development Foundation and various social partners, is designed to ensure seniors receive the necessary care and attention to foster healthier, secure lives.

With the launch of this clinic, SSMC fortifies its position as a leader in offering comprehensive and advanced healthcare solutions. The clinic will provide a holistic service where elderly patients can get extensive health evaluations and customized support addressing their physical, nutritional, and mental health needs.

Scheduled to operate every Monday afternoon, the facility will feature a diverse team including physicians, nutritionists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and psychologists. This comprehensive approach aims to manage chronic diseases, mobility issues, mental health challenges, and preventive care via systematic screenings and check-ups.

Hospital officials emphasized that this clinic represents SSMC's ongoing commitment to addressing the dynamic requirements of the UAE’s ageing citizens. Offering a centralized hub for coordinated senior care, the clinic reinforces the principles of family unity, dignity, and community wellness that are vital to UAE’s ethos.

Appointments can be easily arranged through the SSMC website, WhatsApp, the call centre at 800 SSMC (7762), or via direct referrals from SSMC's clinicians and SEHA clinics.
