Armenia and France Forge Strategic Relations Ahead of Macron's Visit

In Yerevan, Tigran Khachatryan, Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, convened with French envoy Olivier Decottignies to delve into significant elements of their bilateral partnership and anticipate forthcoming diplomatic activities. The discussions aimed at reinforcing the relationship between both nations.

A focal point of their dialogue was the upcoming May visit of Emmanuel Macron to Armenia. The meeting underscored the significance of the European Political Community summit on May 4, which precedes Macron’s official visit on May 5.

The participants reviewed key priority areas on their agenda, including improvements in drinking water supply and wastewater management systems, deemed essential for enhancing Armenia’s infrastructure and public services.

Additionally, France’s role in the development of the Sisian-Kajaran segment of the North-South road corridor was a critical topic. This initiative is anticipated to significantly bolster regional connectivity and economic progress.

Another crucial facet was the collaboration in education, with both parties looking to boost academic alliances and exchange programs. They also touched on further strategic initiatives and development projects.

Both countries’ officials reiterated the necessity of ongoing constructive dialogue and cooperation, recognizing the importance of efficient coordination to tackle outstanding issues and facilitate the successful rollout of their joint projects.
