In the intriguing spy thriller Dhurandhar, actor Arjun Rampal embarks on a sinister role as a ruthless ISI official. The trailer, released on Tuesday, has generated buzz for its startling beginning, showcasing a vivid torture scene enacted by Arjun’s character. The powerful visuals are stirring a variety of responses online, from shock to praise.

Kicking off with Arjun inflicting excruciating pain on a captive using brutal tools, many viewers have reacted to the unsettling imagery, with some deeming the violence as excessive. Conversely, others have lauded director Aditya Dhar for his daring execution of raw realism, a rarity in mainstream Indian films.

During the trailer launch in Mumbai, when asked about his reaction to the scene's description, Arjun chose to remain vague, mentioning his disinterest in the backstory of such moments and instead focusing on the film’s overall significance. He expressed his admiration for Aditya Dhar, calling it a memorable day due to the director's commitment to crafting a groundbreaking film.

In a slip of the tongue, Arjun revealed the name of Ranveer Singh’s character at the event. While the protagonist remains undisclosed in the trailer, he noted that throughout the two-year filming process, he “never saw Ranveer once, only Hamza,” inadvertently disclosing the character's name.

Dhurandhar takes cues from the Lyari Gang Wars in Pakistan alongside the covert operations tied to Indian intelligence. The film boasts a rich ensemble cast featuring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with many roles inspired by real-life figures.
The release date is set for December 5.
