On Tuesday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made a poignant return to his roots in Permatang Pauh for a working visit just before the Aidiladha celebrations. This visit underscored his commitment to community engagement, as he distributed sacrificial cows to various local constituencies in preparation for one of Islam's most revered festivals.

During his initial engagement at the Seberang Perai Tengah District Mosque, the Prime Minister and Finance Minister presented sacrificial cows to families from both the Permatang Pauh parliamentary and Seberang Jaya state constituencies.

Anwar then continued his efforts in his village, where he participated in community activities related to Aidiladha. At a gathering held at Masjid Al-Falah in Pengkalan Tambang, he distributed more sacrificial cows to residents of the Permatang Pasir state constituency.

His visit culminated in Padang Mengkuang Titi, Kubang Semang, where he presented cows to the community in the Penanti state constituency. Local residents and leaders greeted him warmly during his brief stop before he returned to the capital later that day.

Celebrated as the Festival of Sacrifice, Aidiladha commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who showed readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. In Malaysia, the occasion features communal prayers and the sacrifice of livestock, allowing the distribution of meat to families and those in need.

Anwar Ibrahim's connection to Permatang Pauh runs deep, having previously served as the Member of Parliament for this area. His influential role in Penang and across Malaysia continues to resonate strongly.

Political analysts pointed out that Anwar's visit highlights his dedication to grassroots involvement and fostering connections within local communities. Such community-oriented religious events remain integral to Malaysia’s political and cultural dynamics, especially during key Islamic festivities.

As Muslims nationwide prepare to celebrate Aidiladha on Wednesday with prayers, family gatherings, and acts of charity, authorities are also ramping up preparations for travel and religious observances, anticipating participation from millions during the annual festivities.
