Ahaan Panday Dismisses 'Star Kid' Label After Debut Film Triumph

Post by : Mina Carter

Ahaan Panday’s entry into Bollywood has been nothing short of extraordinary. His inaugural film, Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, soared at the box office, amassing approximately ₹580 crore and earning the distinction of being the highest-grossing romantic film in Indian cinema. With glowing reviews from both audiences and critics, Ahaan is set on a promising career path. However, discussions surrounding his privileged background continue.

Ahaan Panday dismisses the 'star kid' stereotype

In a recent conversation with GQ, Ahaan tackled the persistent 'star kid' label. He expressed that he doesn't see himself fitting into that category as his father, Aloke ‘Chikki’ Pandey, isn’t an actor.
“I can’t speak from personal experience since Chikki Pandey isn’t a star,” he explained. “However, I believe each individual has their unique challenges to face.”

Ahaan’s parents, businessman Chikki Pandey and wellness expert Deanne Pandey, are not entrenched in the film world. Nonetheless, his father’s friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and his uncle, actor Chunky Panday, ensured that Ahaan was frequently surrounded by notable industry figures during his formative years.

Ahaan reflects on his privileged upbringing

In reflecting on his youth, Ahaan expressed that, although he felt a connection to the film industry, it was as if he were outside looking in.
“I've always perceived my background as being behind a fence: I can reach out, but I can’t fully grasp what lies beyond it,” he shared. “Being close to the film world has imparted valuable lessons, even if I wasn’t directly involved. That exposure represents my privilege.”

Upcoming projects for Ahaan Panday

Following the remarkable success of Saiyaara, Ahaan is poised to embark on his next venture with Yash Raj Films. This forthcoming project, an action-romance helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, will star Sharvari alongside him, with Aaishvary Thackeray taking on the role of the antagonist. The title of the film remains undisclosed.
