In a significant move for global healthcare, PureHealth has inaugurated the Abu Dhabi Health Research Centre (ADHRC), signaling a transformative phase for clinical research, innovation, and precision medicine in the UAE.
The research hub was launched at the first ADHRC Research Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi, which was supported by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH). This event served as a platform for experts, scholars, policymakers, and industry figures to assemble, fostering collaboration and propelling scientific breakthroughs.
With the establishment of ADHRC, PureHealth consolidates all clinical research activities spanning 16 hospitals, primary care clinics, and labs in Abu Dhabi, forming one of the region's most sophisticated research environments.
This launch is a pivotal step toward Abu Dhabi's vision of becoming a leading center for life sciences and clinical innovation. ADHRC is equipped to oversee the complete research continuum, from designing studies and recruiting participants to managing regulations, analyzing data, and publishing scientific findings.
Currently, ADHRC is conducting over 100 active research studies, managed by more than 300 principal investigators and a scientific team of over 700 researchers. The center collaborates closely with government bodies, global biopharma entities, and prestigious academic institutions to address Abu Dhabi's healthcare goals and advance global medical initiatives.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary for the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, remarked that the centre enhances the emirate's capacity to conduct impactful, ethically-driven clinical trials that improve patient outcomes both locally and globally, while solidifying Abu Dhabi's status as a global hub for life sciences.
Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth, expressed that the inception of ADHRC is a landmark moment in the nation's healthcare evolution. She noted that unifying research capabilities will accelerate breakthrough treatments, enhance patient outcomes, and reinforce Abu Dhabi's prestige in medical innovation.
The centre specializes in vital sectors including personalized medicine, rare conditions, advanced therapies, longevity science, and cutting-edge healthcare technologies. Its infrastructure houses inpatient Clinical Trial Units and the largest outpatient Clinical Trial Unit in the Middle East, managing over 800 patient visits daily for comprehensive and large-scale clinical studies.
ADHRC thrives on support from over 2,500 specialists and consultants in fields like artificial intelligence, oncology, neurology, and precision medicine, aimed at enhancing disease prevention, early detection, and long-term management of illnesses.
With a rich background in clinical research, PureHealth has engaged over 100,000 research participants and produced more than 400 scientific publications annually across 22 therapeutic fields.
Among its noteworthy initiatives is the longevity programme, the largest in the Middle East. Longevity 1.0 achieved a 2.2-year enhancement in healthspan through focused efforts on exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle, while Longevity 2.0 is currently underway with over 3,000 participants.
ADHRC is also leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to scrutinize extensive health datasets, foresee disease patterns, and pinpoint new treatment avenues. These technological advancements are expediting research and enhancing the quality of scientific results, ensuring quick translation of discoveries into effective healthcare solutions.
Supported by various grants from the Department of Health and accolades from both the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Department of Health, PureHealth is now establishing ADHRC as a central node for clinical trials and medical research both regionally and globally, aiding every phase of the research journey from conception to publication.
