Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group is bolstering the stability of supply chains across the Gulf by utilizing its varied logistics network, thereby ensuring smooth trade continuity despite recent disruptions in the region.
Since late February, operations have remained consistent as the group quickly set up alternative routes, rerouting cargo through land, rail, sea, and air options. These proactive initiatives have been key in alleviating the impact of disturbances at Arabian Gulf ports, particularly those linked to traffic conditions in the Strait of Hormuz.
As of now, AD Ports Group has managed the handling of over 54,000 TEUs at the Fujairah Terminals and Khor Fakkan Port. Additionally, more than 22,000 containers traveled through land logistics, while around 18,000 TEUs were handled via the maritime network, supported by a fleet of 24 vessels operating eight feeder services. Furthermore, upwards of 8,000 tonnes of cargo were moved through air logistics, utilizing over 100 chartered flights.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated that long-term logistics infrastructure investments have facilitated one of the UAE's most significant logistics repurposing endeavors. He reiterated the group's dedication to ensuring the steady supply of crucial goods, such as food, medicines, and other strategic resources, while maintaining safety for all personnel involved.
To ensure continuous shipping services to Khalifa Port and important regional trade routes, AD Ports Group has initiated new feeder shipping services, linking the UAE's eastern ports with those in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea. The company also expanded its fleet of vessels and aims to further boost operational capacity.
Feeder operations by SAFEEN Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been successfully redirected through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, providing new entry points to the UAE and the broader GCC region. Fresh services now link ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and the Upper Gulf.
Additionally, the group has established an air bridge with three chartered aircraft for transporting vital cargo, with intentions to further increase capacity. On the ground, a dedicated logistics corridor facilitating smooth cargo movement has been set up using 800 trucks and regular Etihad Rail services between Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali, and Sharjah.
To bolster these initiatives, AD Ports Group has increased its warehousing space beyond 76,000 square meters, with plans to extend it to 188,000 square meters.
By employing advanced digital trade platforms, the group has significantly improved real-time visibility and efficiency in managing trade flows. These technologies support enhanced cargo routing and maximize the reuse of empty containers, leading to reduced costs and improved supply chain efficacy.
In collaboration with UAE authorities and industry stakeholders, AD Ports Group is committed to providing reliable logistics services while strengthening the resilience of supply chains throughout the region.
