The capital city of the UAE has rolled out a noteworthy AED55 billion public-private partnership (PPP) initiative aimed at launching 24 significant infrastructure projects scheduled for 2026 and 2027. This plan, developed in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, is set to fortify the emirate's long-term development strategy while attracting investments from both local and foreign entities.
This extensive programme is designed to create substantial opportunities for private sector involvement in the growth of Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure. These projects are anticipated to bolster economic progression, incentivize international businesses to establish a presence in the emirate, and enhance local supply chains and industrial sectors.
The initiative encompasses a variety of sectors, including transport, infrastructure, and social development.
Within transport, Abu Dhabi plans to initiate 11 critical road projects with a budget of AED35 billion. This will involve over 300 kilometers of new and upgraded roads, tunnels, intersections, and enhancements to the overarching road network aimed at boosting connectivity throughout the emirate.
An additional AED11 billion is earmarked for five pivotal infrastructure projects focusing on dams, water storage systems, flood control measures, stormwater network improvements, and urban landscaping to promote sustainability and enhance public amenities.
The social infrastructure sector will also receive AED9 billion, allocated for eight projects that encompass sports facilities, specialized healthcare centers, educational institutions, and university campuses. These projects aim to elevate community services and enhance long-term livability in Abu Dhabi.
Officials affirm that this new initiative marks a significant advancement in Abu Dhabi's strategy for infrastructure delivery, underscored by strong public-private partnerships and meticulously structured project planning.
This announcement precedes the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit 2026, where the emirate is poised to showcase its upcoming infrastructure and developmental strategies.
