Abu Dhabi has launched a comprehensive initiative, inspecting more than 480 schools and nurseries to elevate emergency preparedness and safety standards throughout its educational system.

This joint effort, led by the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi alongside the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, aims to assess emergency readiness while bolstering safety measures at institutions governed by ADEK.

During these inspections, officials monitored evacuation procedures, evaluated early warning systems, and examined the readiness of response teams in schools and nurseries. The initiative also included field exercises to ensure adherence to safety standards and to gauge staff awareness and responsiveness during emergencies.

Authorities noted that these inspections represent a crucial component of an ongoing proactive monitoring strategy, intended to enhance operational readiness in essential sectors. The ultimate goal is to ensure that educational institutions are equipped to effectively handle a range of emergency situations, all while providing a secure environment for students.

His Excellency Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, Undersecretary of ADEK, emphasized that the safety of students and staff is paramount. He pointed out that routine inspections, clear protocols, and strong collaboration with relevant authorities ensure schools remain prepared, assuring parents of safety standards.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of ADCDA, remarked that these field assessments transition preparedness from theoretical planning to real-world readiness. He explained that practical testing identifies gaps, enhancing response capabilities within educational settings.

He added that ongoing monitoring and practical evaluations are vital for strengthening safety measures, ensuring students and staff enjoy the highest level of protection.

Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, underlined that the education sector is integral to Abu Dhabi’s broader preparedness framework. He highlighted that regular evaluations and inter-agency coordination improve readiness to manage diverse emergency scenarios.

Officials stated that this initiative embodies a cohesive approach that emphasizes prevention, enhances collaboration, and guarantees measurable preparedness throughout the education sector. It also aids in maintaining educational continuity while bolstering public safety across Abu Dhabi.
