Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, was present and delivered a significant keynote speech emphasizing how tourism strengthens the ties between the two nations. The gathering also featured contributions from Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei and officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
During his speech, Surasak voiced that the event symbolizes the enduring friendship between Thailand and China, referencing the sentiment that they are “brothers, not strangers.” He noted how tourism and cultural exchanges create deeper connections.
Strengthening Tourism Ties for Regional Development
The minister highlighted that 2026 will mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, a milestone described as “50 Golden Years of Friendship.” He elaborated on how both nations have amplified their collaboration in tourism, trade, and regional initiatives over the years.
Thailand and China have collaborated effectively to streamline visa processes, broaden international flight options, and enhance tourist safety protocols. Officials also acknowledged the significance of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement in fostering cross-border tourism and digital economic cooperation.
Surasak expressed gratitude to the China National Tourism Administration in Bangkok for regularly hosting events that facilitate Thai engagement with Chinese culture and tourism, further motivating Thai citizens to explore what China has to offer.

The Thai government displayed its commitment to welcoming Chinese tourists through the “Amazing Thailand” campaign. Officials reaffirmed Thailand's status as a prime travel choice for visitors from China, thanks to its scenic beauty, cultural offerings, and modern travel amenities.
