A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Japan on Wednesday, shaking parts of Ibaraki prefecture and even being felt in central Tokyo. The tremors caused brief concern among residents, but officials quickly confirmed that there was no tsunami warning after the quake.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers below the surface. Despite the strong tremors, there have been no reports of casualties or major property damage so far, which has brought relief to people in the affected areas.

Authorities also confirmed that the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Station showed no signs of damage or unusual activity after the earthquake. Safety checks were carried out immediately, and everything was found to be normal.

The quake briefly affected transportation services as well. The Shinkansen bullet train service between Tokyo and Aomori was temporarily stopped as a safety measure. However, operations resumed within 10 minutes after inspections confirmed there were no issues.

Japan is known for frequent earthquakes due to its location on active tectonic plates. Strong building systems and quick emergency response help reduce risks. This latest earthquake caused minimal disruption, and normal life returned quickly after the tremors stopped.
