Several Lionesses players were acknowledged for their invaluable contributions.

The arts also saw prominent recognitions. Cynthia Erivo, the acclaimed actress celebrated for her starring role in the upcoming 2024 musical film Wicked, was awarded an OBE. Warwick Davis, known for his roles in Star Wars and Harry Potter, and founder of Little People UK charity, also received an OBE.

In business, Simon Roberts, the CEO of Sainsbury’s, and John Pettigrew, former head of National Grid, were both awarded Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for their exemplary leadership and service.

This longstanding New Year Honours tradition, initiated in 1890, aims to appreciate not just prominent figures but also often-overlooked heroes dedicated to fostering positive change in their communities. The investiture ceremonies will occur in 2026 at royal venues, including Buckingham Palace.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer commended the honourees, stating that this list reflects “the very best of Britain—individuals who prioritize the common good, strengthening communities, and transforming lives.”
