In the Test arena, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will serve as vice-captain to Najmul Hossain Shanto, who retains his captaincy until at least the end of the ongoing 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. Conversely, the vice-captaincy in ODIs is assigned to Najmul Hossain Shanto, who will support Mehidy Hasan Miraz, named ODI captain in June for the upcoming year. Saif Hassan, having excelled in the T20 format this past year, steps up as vice-captain for T20Is. The T20I captaincy remains in the hands of Das, who will lead the squad into the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh's leadership changes follow a strong victory against Ireland, where they won the first Test by an innings and 47 runs, taking an early lead in the two-match series. Key contributions came from Mahmudul Hasan Joy (171) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (100), alongside Hasan Murad, whose four wickets helped clinch the victory.

Despite Ireland's effort in their second innings from players like Andy McBrine (52) and Andy Balbirnie (38), they were unable to surpass Bangladesh's commanding total and disciplined bowling performance. The hosts maintained control throughout the match.
