Urgent Repairs Announced for School in Kalasin, Thailand

In response to significant safety and hygiene concerns uncovered during a recent inspection, Thailand’s Ministry of Education has mandated immediate renovations at Pinij Ratsabamrung School located in Kalasin Province.

Education Minister Prasert Chantarawongthong, accompanied by key officials, visited the school as part of a nationwide initiative to assess educational facilities in advance of the new academic year, focusing on the execution of essential education policies.

The inspection revealed multiple issues, including deteriorating school buildings and faulty electrical systems, which pose substantial risks to students, faculty, and staff. The urgency of the situation has prompted swift action.

The minister has tasked the Office of the Basic Education Commission with addressing all pressing safety concerns, particularly related to aged infrastructure and unsafe electrical systems throughout the campus.

Furthermore, the inspection also flagged significant shortcomings regarding the school cafeteria, which is currently insufficient in size and hygiene compliance, resulting in students having to eat in shifts due to space constraints.

Plans have now been approved for a new cafeteria that will adhere to contemporary health and safety standards, aimed at enhancing wellness for the student body and fostering a healthier educational setting.

Pinij Ratsabamrung School plays a crucial role in the district, accommodating over 700 students along with 45 teaching and administrative staff. Improving the infrastructure at this school is part of Thailand’s larger educational reform agenda.

The Ministry has reiterated that enhancing school safety, hygiene, and quality of education must progress concurrently to guarantee that students nationwide experience secure and enriching educational atmospheres.
